If You Sin Are You Saved?

“23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God's righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. “ Romans 3:23-25

“Spirit Lead Me” single from Touching Heaven

In the word, it says that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. It is because of the fall of Adam and Eve that sin entered the world. Sin separated humanity from God because God is holy and in him there is no sin. This is the reason Jesus died on the cross and took on the punishment of Sin for humanity. He didn’t die so that we could be perfect, but so that we could live as ONE with God again. The death and resurrection of Jesus allows us to have full forgiveness and everlasting life through Him. It is the truest gift and act of love from God.

However, this grace that was extended to us isnt a “free pass” to live however we want. The beautiful thing about being a Christian, is that we are empowered by the spirit of Jesus Christ to move through life without the bondoage of sin. This idea is talked about in Romans 7:14-25. Through conviction and repentance, we can turn away from sin and continue the narrow path with the Lord. This is why it is so important to ask the Holy Spirit to lead you in your life and guide you in the direction to go. The Holy Spirit brings conviction into our lives to guide us toward repentance, which literally means “To turn the other direction”. In other words, we can now turn away from sin and turn towards God. There is truly no bondage that the Spirit of Christ cannot break.

This idea inspired the writing of “Spirit Lead Me” which is about learning to trust the Lord and fully follow the Holy Spirit. This song was written to remind us to call upon the Lord and listen to His guidance because, in our flesh, we struggle with sin. Coming to Salvation doesn’t mean you will never sin, but as you continue to grow with Jesus you will be strengthened and learn to walk in greater levels of freedom in this life.
